Carried Wishes
It felt like nothing had happened in Kazui's life up until that point when Shidou popped the question with a modest ring and a smile full of love in the chaos of Milgram, where he'd spent months treating Mahiru's injuries as a doctor after she suffered an attack from Kotoko. Even while they didn't speak there outside of the smoking room, Kazui's heart always felt warmer around him, even if he deemed those feelings as wrong. The most obvious answer from Kazui was a teary *yes*. After all, all he wanted was a love that never went away, one that didn't survive off of fake smiles and tolerance. Through being a doctor and the peacemaker in the prison, it seemed like Kazui and Shidou both helped each other heal, even though the trauma never went away. Since their marriage would be held in the spring, they had a beautiful wedding in a clear field with friends and family. Kazui was a vision walking down the aisle, dressed in a white suit he could breathe in, and Shidou stood at the end of it, dressed in a matching suit, a simple daisy resting in a pocket at his chest, catching Kazui as if to anchor him, eyes locked lovingly on ones that shone under the touch of his thumb, wiping fast tears away. And to them, it was so much more than enough when their lips finally touched; the first thing framed in their otherwise empty house, boxes sitting in every corner, a confidence that Shidou only subtly showed every day after and Kazui's happiness framed at their doorway. Moving into a house of their own wasn't easy, but it was all worth it when they finally got everything together and settled in officially. For two people, there wasn't much need for three rooms as they'd always been strong on sleeping together, so one room was made into a space for Shidou to thrive in when it comes to his medical profession, and another was Kazui's personal atelier, after Yuno had recommended him to try out a new hobby when—hopefully—they were free from Milgram. One day, Kazui and Shidou migrated to the living room, where Shidou laid out some equipment he'd bought for an outdoors gazebo in the making. Kazui took a seat next to him, kissing the exhaustion away from his cheek until it blushed red under his lips, casually rambling about his day to him, even though it was spent indoors and he'd never left Shidou's sight. Shidou turned his head slightly, and, like the overanalyzer he always was, didn't kiss him back. Instead, he asked what a kiss meant for two people to the man who knew and suppressed so much about love.
