Harry Potter AU Phoenix

The Midnight Ledger and the Blood of the Raven

The air in the Potter Manor library had grown thick with the scent of ancient ozone and the metallic tang of cooling mana. Harry sat at the central stone table, his silhouette framed by the flickering blue holographic displays of the System. Across from him, the iron-bound Templar Ledger lay open, its pages turning of their own accord as the System’s "Analytical Eye" scanned the centuries of corruption hidden within the ink.

"It’s worse than we thought, Harry," Rin said, her spiritual form flickering as she processed the data-stream. "The Templar influence isn't just a political faction within the Ministry. It’s a parasite. They’ve been funding the 'Light' and the 'Dark' for three generations. They didn't care who won the last war, as long as the magical world remained stagnant and dependent on their gold."

Harry didn't look up. His eyes, now permanently etched with the silver-gold circuitry of the Kaleidoscope, were tracking a specific list of names. "Lucius Malfoy was just the banker. The real architect is someone who has been sitting in the Wizengamot since the days of my grandfather. Look at this entry from 1981."

A specific name glowed red on the HUD: *Augustus Rookwood.*

"The Unspeakable," Rin muttered. "The one who supposedly turned spy for Voldemort."

"He didn't just turn spy," Harry corrected, his voice as cold as the Welsh stone around them. "He was the liaison between the Death Eaters and the London Rite of the Templars. He ensured that the Ministry’s response to the war was always three steps behind. And look at the signature on the authorization for the Dementor relocation."

A second name flashed: *Dolores Jane Umbridge.*

"She’s not just a bureaucrat," Harry said, his Hidden Blade sliding out of his sleeve with a murderous click. "She’s a high-ranking 'Grand Master' in their local chapter. She sent those Dementors to Surrey not just to silence me, but to test if my core was still bound by Dumbledore’s seals. They wanted to see if the 'Weapon of the Light' was malfunctioning."

"Well, you certainly gave them an answer," Rin said, though her expression was grim. "But now you’ve kicked the hornet’s nest. The Ledger shows that the Templars have a 'Purge' protocol. If they feel their secrets are being compromised, they don't just hide—they cauterize. They’ll come for anyone who might have seen the data. That means Amelia Bones is in the crosshairs."

Harry stood up, the heavy dragonhide robes swirling around his ankles. "Then we don't wait for them to move. System, what is the synchronization level?"

**[Synchronization: 38%]** **[New Ability Available: Shadow Step - Long Range.]** **[Warning: Physical strain at current mana capacity is high.]**

"I don't care about the strain," Harry said. "Rin, I need you to stay here and coordinate with the Manor’s wards. If Dumbledore or the Order tries to track the 'Void-Jump' I’m about to make, I want them redirected to a dead-end in the North Sea."

"You’re going after Umbridge tonight?" Rin asked, her eyes widening.

"No," Harry said, his gaze turning toward the window where the moon was beginning to rise. "Umbridge is a symptom. I’m going to the source. Rookwood is currently being held in Azkaban, but the Ledger shows he’s been receiving 'private consultations' in a safehouse near Dover. The Templars are planning to break him out before his trial so he can lead their new 'Order of the World'."

"Harry, that’s a trap," Rin warned. "An Assassin doesn't walk into a fortified safehouse without a full tactical layout."

"I have the best layout in the world," Harry replied, tapping his temple. "I have the memories of every Assassin who ever infiltrated a Templar stronghold. And I have the Ancient Magic of the Potters. They won't even see the shadow that kills them."

***

The safehouse was a nondescript manor overlooking the white cliffs of Dover, warded with a complexity that would have baffled a standard Auror squad. To Harry’s Eagle Vision, however, the wards were nothing more than a series of vibrating strings.

He materialized on the roof, the Shroud of the Unseen making him a literal hole in reality. He didn't breathe; the System was managing his oxygen intake to ensure no sound escaped his lips.

**[Targets Detected: 12.]** **[Status: Alert.]** **[Primary Target: Augustus Rookwood - Basement Level.]**

Harry moved with a predatory grace that was no longer human. He dropped from the eaves, his body dissolving into shadow—the 'Void-Step'—and reappeared behind a guard standing on the balcony. Before the man could even register a change in the air, Harry’s Hidden Blade had pierced the base of his skull.

The guard didn't even slump; Harry caught him, easing the body to the floor with a silence that was unnatural.

"One," Harry whispered.

He moved through the upper floors like a ghost. He didn't use flashy spells. He used the 'Hidden Wand' to fire microscopic needles of concentrated mana, puncturing the lungs of the Templar guards before they could raise their wands. Each kill was a clinical, precise movement—a dance of death he had practiced for six years in the span of four days within the Animus.

He reached the basement stairs. The air here was colder, smelling of salt and old, dark magic. Two guards stood before a heavy iron door, their wands glowing with a protective light.

"Did you hear that?" one of them whispered, his eyes darting toward the shadows.

"Hear what? It’s just the wind off the cliffs," the other replied, though his hand was shaking.

Harry stepped out of the darkness, ten feet away from them. He didn't use the Shroud. He wanted them to see.

The guards gasped, their wands coming up, but Harry simply raised his hand. The violet-red gem in his bracer—the one powered by the soul-shard of Slytherin’s locket—flared with a sickening light.

"Sleep," Harry commanded.

The 'Jewel Spell' didn't just put them to sleep; it forcibly disconnected their consciousness from their bodies. They collapsed like puppets with their strings cut.

Harry walked to the door. He didn't bother with a key. He placed his hand on the iron, and the Ancient Magic surged forth, the silver runes on his skin glowing so brightly they illuminated the entire hallway. The metal didn't break; it turned to dust, falling away in a silent grey cloud.

Inside, Augustus Rookwood sat in a plush armchair, looking remarkably comfortable for a prisoner. He was reading a book, a glass of expensive firewhisky on the table beside him. He looked up, his eyes narrowing as he saw the hooded figure in the doorway.

"You’re not the extraction team," Rookwood said, his voice smooth and devoid of fear. "And you’re certainly not one of Dumbledore’s children. Who sent you? The Goblins? Or has the Ministry finally found someone with a spine?"

Harry stepped into the room, the hood of his robes casting a deep shadow over his face, save for the twin emerald fires of his eyes. "I’m the one you’ve been looking for, Augustus. The 'Weapon' that wasn't supposed to wake up."

Rookwood’s composure shattered. He stood up, his book falling to the floor. "Potter? No... that’s impossible. You’re supposed to be under surveillance. You’re supposed to be a broken child."

"The child died," Harry said, his voice echoing with the resonance of the Void. "I’m the debt collector. I’ve read the Ledger, Augustus. I know about the 'Rite of the Gilded Cross'. I know you were the one who suggested the Dursleys as a 'containment' measure to the Templar High Council in 1981."

Rookwood reached for a hidden wand in his sleeve, but Harry was across the room in a blur of motion. He seized Rookwood’s throat, slamming him against the stone wall with enough force to crack the masonry.

"You thought you could use my blood to stabilize your puppet-government," Harry hissed, the Hidden Blade hovering a fraction of an inch from Rookwood’s eye. "You thought the Potters were just a name on a ledger."

"You... you don't know what you’re doing," Rookwood wheezed, his face turning a dark shade of purple. "The Templars... we are the only thing keeping this world from tearing itself apart. Without us, the Muggles will find you. They’ll burn you all!"

"Then let it burn," Harry said. "I’d rather see the world in ashes than ruled by a cabal of cowards who hide behind children’s scars."

Harry didn't kill him—not yet. He pressed his thumb against Rookwood’s temple, and the System’s 'Memory Extraction' protocol flared to life.

**[Warning: Direct Neural Interface is unstable.]** **[Processing...]**

Harry saw it all. He saw the secret meetings in the bowels of the Ministry. He saw the location of the third soul-shard—a cup, hidden in the Lestrange vault, guarded not just by Goblins, but by a Templar 'Blood-Lock'. He saw the face of the Grand Master of the London Rite: a man who sat at Dumbledore’s right hand in the Order of the Phoenix.

*Elphias Doge.*

The revelation hit Harry like a physical blow. The 'old friend' of Dumbledore, the man who had written the glowing obituary for the Headmaster’s sister—he was the one directing the Templar influence.

"So that’s the game," Harry whispered, his grip tightening. "Dumbledore plays the Light, Voldemort plays the Dark, and the Templars play the board."

"You... you can’t win," Rookwood gasped, a bloody smile touching his lips. "Doge has already authorized the 'Final Solution'. If you don't return to the Ministry, they’ll declare you a Dark Lord. They’ll hunt you with everything they have."

"Let them," Harry said. "I’ve spent my whole life being hunted. It’s time I showed them what it’s like to be the prey."

With a swift, clinical movement, Harry retracted the Hidden Blade and replaced it with a palm-strike to Rookwood’s chest. The 'Jewel Spell' in his palm discharged a pulse of Void-energy, shattering Rookwood’s magical core and leaving him a hollow, mindless shell. He would live, but he would never speak, never cast, and never remember.

Harry turned and walked out of the safehouse, the building behind him beginning to collapse as the Manor’s 'Siphon' spell—cast through Harry’s anchor—began to drain the mana from the wards, causing the structure to implode.

He materialized back in the Potter library, his breathing heavy, his robes stained with the dust of the Dover cliffs.

Rin was standing by the stone table, her expression pale. "Harry, the System just processed the memory dump. Elphias Doge? Are you sure?"

"The memory doesn't lie, Rin," Harry said, collapsing into a chair. "The Order is compromised. The Ministry is a puppet show. And Voldemort is just a distraction they use to keep the public afraid."

"What’s the move?" Rin asked, her voice trembling slightly. "If we go after Doge, we’re declaring war on the Order of the Phoenix and the Templars at the same time."

Harry looked at the Ledger, then at the glowing jewels on his wrist. He saw the path ahead—a path of blood, shadows, and the cold, hard truth of the Assassin’s Creed.

"We don't go after Doge," Harry said, his eyes turning to the map of Gringotts. "We go after the Cup. We strip Voldemort of his immortality, one piece at a time. And when he’s mortal again, we let the Templars try to protect him."

He looked at Rin, a dark, determined smile on his face. "Tell the System to prepare the 'Heist' protocol. We’re going to break into Gringotts. And this time, we aren't going through the front door."

"You’re insane," Rin said, but she was smiling too. "Zelretch would love this."

"Zelretch isn't the one who has to live in this world," Harry said, standing up and heading toward the Forge. "I am. And I’m going to make sure it’s a world worth living in."

The moon reached its zenith over the Potter Manor, its light reflecting off the silver runes that now covered the walls. The boy who lived had become the man who hunted, and the shadows of the world were finally beginning to fear the light—not the blinding light of the sun, but the cold, sharp light of the silver-eyed Assassin.
