Love

The Curve of the Allianz

The Munich air was crisp, carrying the scent of roasted almonds and the electric anticipation that always preceded a home game at the Allianz Arena. For Mi, however, the atmosphere felt different today. It was her first time back in the VIP stands since the news of her pregnancy had become public, and at five months along, there was no longer any hiding the life growing inside her.

She stood in front of the full-length mirror in their dressing room, smoothing out the fabric of Jamal’s home jersey. It was an oversized fit, the deep red fabric swallowing her petite frame, but the way it draped over her rounded belly made her heart swell. The number 42 was emblazoned across her back, a silent tribute to the man currently warming up on the pitch below.

"You look beautiful, Mi," her friend Lena said, leaning against the doorframe. "Honestly, the 'oversized jersey and leggings' look is going to be the new Munich trend by tomorrow morning."

Mi laughed, adjusting her curly brown hair, which she had left down in its natural, wild state. "I just wanted to be comfortable. Although, I think the baby is currently using my bladder as a trampoline, so 'comfortable' is a relative term."

As she made her way to her seat in the stands, the flashbulbs began. She had expected some attention, but the sheer volume of paparazzi and fan-taken photos was staggering. She kept a protective hand over her bump, a soft, instinctive smile playing on her lips as she navigated the crowds. By the time she reached her seat, social media was already alight.

The pictures were everywhere within minutes: *'The Queen of the Allianz,' 'Musiala’s Mini-Me on the Way,'* and *'Mi Musiala defines pregnancy glow.'* The fans adored the sight of her in Jamal’s shirt—it was a symbol of the grounded, genuine love they had watched blossom over the years.

Down on the pitch, Jamal caught a glimpse of her on the jumbotron during a break in play. The stadium cameras had zeroed in on her, catching her waving enthusiastically as the Bayern anthem blared. Jamal’s teammates noticed too. Thomas Müller nudged him, pointing upward with a cheeky grin. Jamal didn't even try to hide the massive, dimpled smile that broke across his face. He blew a discreet kiss toward the stands, a gesture that sent the crowd into a roar.

The game was a masterclass. Jamal played with a lightness and a ferocity that seemed amplified by the presence of his wife and unborn child. Every time he touched the ball, there was a sense of purpose. When he finally slotted a goal into the bottom left corner in the seventy-second minute, he didn't do his usual celebration. Instead, he grabbed the ball, tucked it under his jersey to mimic a pregnant belly, and sucked his thumb while pointing directly at Mi.

The stadium erupted. Mi felt tears prickling her eyes, her hand trembling slightly as she pressed it against her stomach. "You see that?" she whispered to the bump. "That’s your daddy."

After the final whistle blew and Bayern secured a 3-0 victory, Jamal was pulled aside for the post-match interviews. He was sweaty, his hair damp and curling at the forehead, but he looked more energized than he had in weeks.

The interviewer, a seasoned journalist with a smirk, skipped the tactical questions almost immediately. "Jamal, incredible performance today. But we have to ask—the celebration? And we saw Mi in the stands looking spectacular. How has the journey to fatherhood been treating the star of Bayern?"

Jamal chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck as he looked down at the microphone. "It’s been amazing, honestly. It’s a different kind of motivation. Knowing they’re both up there watching... it makes every sprint, every tackle feel more important."

"And how is Mi doing?" the journalist pressed. "The fans are obsessed with the photos from tonight."

Jamal’s expression softened, that signature "whipped" look taking over his features. "She’s incredible. She’s the strongest person I know. Every day I’m just in awe of her. If she wants a jersey three sizes too big or a midnight snack of pickles and chocolate, she gets it. I’m just the assistant at this point, and I’m perfectly happy with that role."

The interview went viral instantly. The "Assistant Jamal" clip was looped millions of times, cementing his status as the internet’s favorite "golden boy" husband.

By the time Jamal made it through the post-game recovery and the press gauntlet, it was late. He drove home in a daze of exhaustion and contentment, his mind already on the quiet apartment waiting for him.

When he walked through the front door, the lights were dimmed. He found Mi on the sofa, surrounded by a fortress of pillows. She was wearing one of his old hoodies now, her legs tucked under a soft throw.

"Hey, superstar," she murmured, her voice thick with sleep.

"Hey, beautiful." Jamal dropped his bag and crossed the room in three long strides. He didn't go for a kiss first; instead, he dropped to his knees on the rug beside the sofa and rested his forehead against her belly.

He stayed there for a long moment, just breathing. The chaos of the stadium, the pressure of the league, and the noise of the media faded away. Here, in the quiet of their living room, he was just a man waiting for his child.

"He was kicking a lot during your interview," Mi said, running her fingers through Jamal’s hair. "I think he liked hearing your voice on the speakers."

Jamal lifted his head, his eyes wide. "Really? He’s active tonight?"

"Very. Here, give me your hand."

Mi guided Jamal’s large, calloused hand to the side of her bump. For a few seconds, there was nothing. Then, a sharp, rhythmic poke against his palm. Jamal’s breath hitched.

"Whoa," he whispered, his eyes locked on the spot where his hand met her skin. "That was a strong one. That’s a midfielder’s kick for sure."

"Don't you start," Mi teased, though she was smiling. "He might want to be a pianist or an architect."

"As long as he’s healthy, he can be whatever he wants," Jamal said seriously, though he didn't move his hand. He began to trace small, soothing circles over the fabric of her hoodie. "But with those legs? I’m just saying, the scouts are going to be calling early."

He shifted his position, sitting on the floor and leaning his back against the sofa so he could look up at her. "You okay? Truly? The crowd today... it was a lot."

Mi nodded, reaching down to cup his chin. "I’m okay, Jamal. It was actually nice. Seeing everyone so happy for us... it made the fear I felt months ago feel like a lifetime away. I felt proud to be there. Proud to be yours."

Jamal leaned into her touch, his gaze lingering on her face. "I’m the one who’s proud. You handled those cameras like a pro. And you looked... Mi, you looked so beautiful in my shirt. I almost forgot the game plan for a second when I saw you on the screen."

"Liar," she giggled. "You scored a goal and did a whole choreographed celebration."

"I had to," he insisted, a playful glint in his eyes. "I had to let everyone know that the guy on the pitch is just the backup for the real boss at home."

He stood up, offering her his hands to help her off the sofa. "Come on. Bedtime. You need to rest, and I need to stop being a footballer for a few hours and just be a husband."

"Does that mean I get the foot massage I was promised?" Mi asked, raising an eyebrow as she stood up, leaning into him for support.

Jamal didn't even hesitate. He swept her up into his arms, carrying her toward the bedroom despite her squeals of protest. "Foot massage, extra pillows, and I’ll even get you that weird strawberry water you’ve been craving. Like I said, I’m the assistant."

As he tucked her into bed, Jamal’s movements were filled with a deliberate, heightened care. He adjusted the pregnancy pillow, ensured the temperature was exactly to her liking, and brought her a glass of water before he even thought about changing out of his own clothes. He was, as the media had dubbed him, completely whipped—and he had never been more satisfied with a title in his life.

He climbed into bed beside her, pulling her back against his chest. His hand found its familiar home on her stomach, his fingers splayed wide as if to protect both her and the tiny life inside.

"I love you, Mi," he whispered into the dark, his voice vibrating against her shoulder.

"I love you too, Jamal," she replied, covering his hand with her own.

As they drifted off to sleep, the world outside continued to buzz with the images of the girl in the red jersey and the boy who played for her. But inside the quiet room, there were no cameras, no jerseys, and no headlines. There was only the steady rhythm of three hearts beating in sync, a promise of a future that was no longer an echo, but a beautiful, kicking reality.
