Love

The Pink Dress and the Private Vow

The digital world had a short memory, but it was prone to wild, frantic hallucinations. For three months following the Champions League semi-final, the name "Mimi" had been the most searched term in Munich and beyond. And then, as quickly as she had appeared on the big screen at the Allianz Arena, she vanished.

There were no sightings at the upscale boutiques on Maximilianstraße. There were no blurry photos of the couple dining at Käfer. Jamal Musiala continued to turn up to training with his usual focused intensity, but he was a ghost when it came to the social scene. The tabloids were losing their minds. *Bild* ran a weekly "Mimi-Watch," speculating that the pressure of the spotlight had driven the doll-like girl away. On TikTok, the prevailing theory was that they had broken up, fueled by the fact that Mimi’s Instagram—if she even had one—remained a ghost town.

In reality, Jamal had simply tightened the circle. He had moved her into his world with the precision of a tactical foul. He loved the way she looked in his kitchen, wearing nothing but his oversized hoodies. He loved the way she smelled of vanilla and expensive hair oil when he came home from a long day of drills. But most of all, he loved that the world couldn't see her. Every time he saw a paparazzi lens glinting in the distance, he felt a surge of territorial aggression that made him want to shield her with his own body. She was his secret, his sanctuary, and he wasn't ready to let the public breathe her air again.

That was, until Alphonso Davies announced his wedding.

"Jamal, I can’t go," Mimi whispered, staring at the invitation on the marble countertop. "Everyone will be there. The cameras, the other players... the internet will start all over again."

Jamal walked up behind her, his large hands sliding around her waist, pulling her petite frame back against his chest. He buried his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling deeply. "You’re going because Phonzy is my best friend. And you’re going because I want to show you off, just a little bit. Just enough so they know you’re still mine."

"You’re so possessive," she teased, though her breath hitched as he nipped at the sensitive skin of her shoulder.

"I’m realistic," he corrected, his voice dropping an octave. "I know what people say when they don't see us. I want them to see that nothing has changed."

The day of the wedding arrived with a heatwave that turned Munich into a Mediterranean dream. The venue was a sprawling estate on the outskirts of the city, guarded by a private security firm that kept the vultures of the press at the gates. However, Jamal knew that in the age of smartphones, a "private" wedding was a myth.

Mimi stood in front of the full-length mirror in their bedroom, smoothing down the fabric of her dress. It was a pale, dusty pink silk, short enough to show off her slender legs but elegant enough to pass the dress code. The neckline was modest, but the way it hugged her curves made Jamal’s jaw tighten when he walked in. She had opted for small, manageable heels that made her look even more like a delicate porcelain figurine.

"Mimi," he breathed, standing in the doorway in his perfectly tailored black suit.

She turned, her cheeks naturally flushing a deep rose. She had applied a bit of extra blush to mimic the way she looked when she was flustered, her long brown curls swept to one side in a cascade of shiny ringlets. "Is it too much? I feel like... everyone is going to stare."

Jamal crossed the room in three long strides. He didn't tell her she looked beautiful—that was a given. Instead, he reached out and adjusted the strap of her dress, his thumb lingering on her skin. "They’re going to stare because you’re the most beautiful woman there. But I’m not leaving your side for a second. If anyone looks too long, they’ll have to deal with me."

Mimi laughed, a soft, melodic sound. "You’re a footballer, Jamal, not a bodyguard."

"Today, I’m both," he said, his eyes dark and serious.

When they arrived at the estate, the atmosphere was electric. The crème de la crème of European football was in attendance. As they stepped out of the black SUV, the air seemed to still. Jamal immediately reached for her hand, his fingers interlocking with hers with a firmness that left no room for doubt.

As they walked toward the garden where the ceremony was to be held, the whispers began.

"Is that her?"

"She’s even prettier in person."

"Look at how he’s holding her."

Jamal ignored them all, his gaze fixed forward, but his arm moved from her hand to her waist, pulling her so close their hips bumped with every step. He greeted his teammates with short, polite nods, his focus never wavering from the girl at his side.

Throughout the ceremony and the subsequent reception, Mimi was like a shadow attached to his arm. She felt the weight of a hundred gazes, but Jamal was an anchor. When Leroy Sané came over to congratulate them, Jamal’s grip on her waist tightened noticeably. When a younger player from the academy tried to strike up a conversation with her while Jamal was getting drinks, Jamal appeared out of nowhere, sliding between them like a defensive wall.

"Having a good time, Mimi?" Jamal asked, his voice pleasant but his eyes fixed on the younger player until the boy mumbled an excuse and hurried away.

"Jamal, you’re being scary," Mimi whispered, leaning into him.

"I'm being careful," he murmured into her ear, his breath hot against her skin. "I told you, I don't like sharing."

As the night wore on, photos began to leak onto the internet. Guests, unable to resist the allure of the "Mystery Couple," posted candid shots to their stories. By midnight, Twitter was in a meltdown. The images showed a radiant Mimi in her pink dress, always tucked under Jamal’s arm, her eyes looking up at him with an adoration that was impossible to fake. The narrative shifted instantly from "Breakup Rumors" to "Relationship Goals." The "Angel of the Allianz" had returned, and she looked more like a doll than ever.

By the time they reached the car to head home, Mimi was exhausted from the social performance, but Jamal was buzzing with a different kind of energy. The sight of so many men looking at her, the way she had been the center of attention despite his best efforts to hide her, had lit a fire in him that only she could extinguish.

The drive back was silent, but the air in the car was thick with tension. Jamal’s hand never left her thigh, his thumb tracing circles over the silk of her pink dress.

The moment the front door of their apartment clicked shut, the "innocent" facade Mimi had maintained all day shattered. She didn't want to be the doll on his arm anymore; she wanted to be the woman who owned him.

She kicked off her heels in the hallway, the cool hardwood floor a relief against her tired feet. Jamal was already shedding his suit jacket, his eyes tracking her every move with a predatory hunger.

"Everyone was looking at you today," Jamal said, his voice rasping as he stepped into her space. He backed her up against the door, his hands pinning her wrists beside her head. "I hated it. I hated every second of it."

Mimi looked up at him, her large eyes no longer shy. The flush on her cheeks wasn't from the sun or the blush she had applied; it was from the heat radiating off him. She felt a surge of power seeing him this undone, this consumed by her.

"But I only looked at you, Jamal," she whispered, her voice steady. "Didn't you see? I didn't care about anyone else."

"I saw," he growled, leaning down so their noses brushed. "But that doesn't stop them from imagining things. It doesn't stop them from wanting what’s mine."

Mimi reached up, her small fingers undoing the top buttons of his dress shirt. She felt the frantic beat of his heart beneath the fabric. She knew what he needed. He needed to feel that she was his, not just in public, but in the most primal, private way possible.

She slid down his body, her knees hitting the floor with a soft thud. Jamal let out a jagged breath, his head falling back against the door as he realized what she was doing.

"Mimi..." he warned, but his hands were already tangling in her long, curly hair, guiding her.

She looked up at him from her position on the floor, her expression a stark contrast to the innocent girl in the pink dress. She reached for his belt, her movements deliberate and practiced. The "Angel" had disappeared, replaced by a woman who knew exactly how to handle the possessive man standing over her.

As she took him into her mouth, Jamal’s composure broke completely. A low, guttural groan escaped his throat, his fingers tightening in her hair as he looked down at her. The sight was almost too much for him—the girl the world thought was a porcelain doll, the girl everyone wanted to protect, was currently bringing him to his knees.

He watched her, his eyes dark with a mixture of lust and an all-consuming need for dominance. Every time she looked up at him, her eyes wide and wet, his heart hammered against his ribs. This was the part the cameras would never see. This was the side of Mimi that belonged only to him, the side he would go to war to protect.

"You're mine," he choked out, his hips jerking forward instinctively. "Tell me you're mine."

She couldn't speak, but the way she redoubled her efforts, the way she leaned into him, was answer enough.

Minutes later, Jamal pulled her up, his movements frantic as he lifted her off the floor. Her legs wrapped around his waist, the pink silk of her dress bunching up around her hips. He carried her toward the bedroom, his kisses hard and demanding, marking her skin with bruises that would take days to fade.

He threw her onto the bed, the mattress dipping under their combined weight. He hovered over her, his eyes scanning every inch of her flushed face.

"Tomorrow, they’ll still be talking about you," Jamal whispered, his voice thick with possessiveness. "They’ll be looking at those photos, wondering what it’s like to be with you."

Mimi reached up, pulling him down by the collar of his shirt until their lips were inches apart. "Let them wonder, Jamal. They only get the picture. You get the rest."

Jamal didn't need to hear anything else. He silenced her with a kiss that tasted of possession and promises, drowning out the rest of the world. The internet could have its rumors and its stolen photos, but in the quiet of their room, there was no doubt who Mimi belonged to. And as Jamal lost himself in her, he knew he would never let the world get close enough to take her away.
