Muscle Memory and Other Casual Confessions

**[DMD STAY HOUSE S3 — LIVESTREAM FEED: BEDROOM A]** *Day 5, 06:48:22 AM* *Active Viewers: 642,890*

**livechat_mod:** "Livestream audio active. Visual feed synchronized." **solarsoul:** "WE ARE EARLY TODAY AND WE ARE NOT SLEEPING." **netjj_archive:** "Is JJ okay? Look at how he’s sitting on the edge of the mattress." **phornpinit_daily:** "He looks completely drained. His skin is so pale :(" **matchalover99:** "Net is already dressed and moving around. Wait, where is he going?"

The thin morning light barely touched the sheer curtains of Bedroom A, painting the room in cool, quiet lavender. Across the room, Tommy was still curled beneath his blanket, but on the right-hand king bed, JJ sat hunched over his knees, his forehead pressed against his palms.

His breathing was shallow, his shoulders trembling beneath an oversized fleece sweater. He reached blindly for his glasses on the nightstand, knocked them against the lamp base, and groaned softly.

A pair of warm hands caught the frames before they hit the floor.

"Stop moving," Net’s voice cut in.

It wasn't his television projection. It wasn't the theatrical, mocking drawl he used when baiting JJ during trivia segments. It was low, raspy from sleep, and completely stripped of vanity.

Net knelt between JJ’s knees, already holding a glass of lukewarm water and two white pills he had retrieved from his personal toiletry bag without having to search for a single second.

JJ blinked blearily through heavy lids, his cheeks flushed with dull, feverish red. He tried to straighten his spine, waving a limp hand to dismiss him.

"Okay lang," JJ muttered, his voice cracking into sandpaper. "Don’t—"

"No. Sit," Net commanded, cutting him off with practiced firmness. His left hand came up, palm flattening against JJ’s forehead, then sliding down to check the heat radiating from the crook of his neck. "Huwag na ngang umarte. Your temperature spiked past thirty-eight during the night."

"The morning briefing starts at seven," JJ mumbled, his stubborn pride fighting against the pounding pressure behind his eyes. "I have to review the sponsor segments with P'Aof."

"Tommy can read the cards," Net replied evenly. He popped the blister pack with his thumb, pressing the tablets into JJ’s palm and wrapping his long fingers around JJ’s knuckles to guide the glass of water to his lips. "Drink. All of it."

JJ didn't fight him. The habitual thorns that guarded his public persona simply evaporated under the exhaustion of the fever. He swallowed the medication, took three measured gulps of water, and let out a shuddering sigh.

Net took the glass, set it on the floor, and immediately reached for a damp cotton washcloth he had brought up from the bathroom. Methodically, without an ounce of hesitation, he wiped away the sweat clinging to JJ’s hairline, his touch light, steady, and achingly gentle. He smoothed back the messy dark fringe, his thumb lingering over JJ’s furrowed brow until the tension there finally unraveled.

JJ’s head dropped forward, his forehead landing squarely against the hollow of Net’s collarbone. His hands came up, clutching the fabric of Net’s black hoodie as if anchoring himself in a storm.

"Thank you…" JJ whispered, voice muffled against Net’s shoulder, raw with sleep and vulnerability. "Love you, okay."

The words slipped out with the effortless, thoughtless weight of a habit spoken ten thousand times in the dark. It was pure muscle memory—an unscripted reflex after five years of shared colds, midnight deadlines, and quiet mornings.

Across the room, Tommy suddenly sat bolt upright in bed, his hair sticking up like a bird’s nest, staring with wide, unblinking eyes.

Net paused for half a heartbeat.

His eyes flickered toward the ceiling camera, where the small red tally light burned bright and undeniable. Then, slowly, his hand came up to cradle the back of JJ’s head, his long fingers threading into the soft hair at JJ’s nape.

"I love you too," Net murmured back softly, pressing his cheek against the top of JJ’s warm head.

Then, because he was still Net Siraphop, a tiny, teasing vibration rumbled in his chest.

"Huwag mo na kasi ako gaganyanin kapag may sakit ka," Net murmured, his lips curving against JJ’s hair. "You're only nice to me when you're dying."

JJ let out a faint, miserable snort against his collarbone, nudging his shoulder weakly. "Stop. Ang OA."

"I’m serious," Net said, shifting to slide an arm under JJ’s knees and behind his back, lifting him effortlessly back into the center of the mattress. "Lie down. Close your eyes. If anyone knocks on this door before noon, I’m locking them in the pantry."

JJ sank into the pillows with a quiet hum of relief, his fingers blindly catching the edge of Net’s sleeve before Net could step away.

Net didn't leave. He simply pulled the heavy duvet up to JJ’s chin, kicked off his slides, and sat on the edge of the mattress, his hand resting quietly over JJ’s covered chest, tapping a steady, rhythmic pulse until JJ’s breathing deepened into sleep.

↳ **@scriptwriters_union:** “The sheer casualness of it was the deadliest part. Neither of them paused like it was a confession. It was just punctuation at the end of a sentence.” ↳ **@solarsoul:** “Day 5 sick morning = relationship reveal pipeline. The denial is dead. Buried. Decomposed.” ↳ **@thaienthu_99:** “I love how Tommy just froze under his blanket like: *‘I am trapped in a room with two married men and sixty cameras.’*”

Downstairs in the kitchen, the mood was surreal.

Nat stood by the breakfast counter, holding a carton of almond milk, staring blankly at the wall. Beside him, Zee was quietly stirring his black coffee, his expression a mixture of profound resignation and subtle amusement.

Tommy shuffled into the kitchen, looking like a man who had survived a minor spiritual crisis.

"Morning," Tommy whispered, as if speaking too loudly might shatter reality.

"Did you see?" Nat squeaked, leaning across the marble island. "Tommy, you were in the room. Was that real?"

"I was three meters away," Tommy muttered, pouring himself a cup of water with a trembling hand. "I heard every syllable. Net didn't even look embarrassed. He just tucked JJ in like he was putting a toddler to sleep."

The sliding glass door opened, and Latte walked in from the patio, fresh from his morning run, wiping his neck with a towel. He looked around at the shell-shocked expressions of his castmates.

"Why is everyone standing around like someone died?" Latte asked, grinning. "Did JJ burn the kitchen down already?"

"No," Tommy said hollowly. "JJ gave Net a fever confession, and Net answered back, and now the entire internet is demanding a state wedding."

Latte blinked, his mouth dropping open into a wide 'O' before he burst into loud, boisterous laughter. "Finally! I told you guys! Nobody fights like that unless they’re splitting the electric bill!"

**[DMD STAY HOUSE S3 — FINAL DAY WRAP-UP BROADCAST]** *Day 10, 04:30 PM* *Main Pavilion — Live Broadcast Finale*

The ten days had flown by in a blur of river excursions, cooking challenges, and quiet domesticity that the editors had long since given up trying to hide. JJ’s fever had broken after thirty-six hours, thanks largely to Net’s vigilant hovering, and the rest of the villa stay had settled into a strangely peaceful equilibrium.

Now, all ten residents sat on the tiered wooden benches of the main pavilion for the closing interview segment.

JJ looked healthy again, wearing a soft cream-colored knit sweater, his wire-rimmed glasses catching the afternoon sun. He sat on the second tier, knees drawn up slightly, radiating his usual calm composure.

Net sat right beside him. Not half a foot away, not with professional distance, but with his shoulder pressed firmly against JJ’s, his arm slung casually along the wooden backrest behind JJ’s neck.

The production staff was wrapping up the final remarks.

"We have one final question from the cast Q&A box," Latte announced, holding a microphone as he stood in front of the group, his eyes gleaming with suppressed mischief. "This isn't from the production team. This is from me. And probably from the eight hundred thousand people currently crashing the YouTube server."

JJ raised an eyebrow, sensing a trap. "Latte, don't."

Latte ignored him entirely, pointing the microphone straight at the pair.

"Net and JJ," Latte said, his tone perfectly theatrical, "boyfriends kayo, no?"

A collective gasp swept through the crew behind the cameras. Tommy slapped his forehead, while Zee chuckled into his collar.

On the bench, Net and JJ didn't flinch.

They didn't jump apart. They didn't flush red or look at the floor.

Instead, they turned their heads simultaneously and looked at each other.

JJ looked at Net with a faint, bewildered frown, as if trying to parse a math problem that made no sense. Net looked back at JJ, an identical expression of mild confusion on his face.

Then, Net turned back to Latte and the cameras.

"Yes," Net said simply.

The pavilion went dead silent.

JJ let out a quiet, exasperated breath through his nose, crossing his arms over his chest. "Obviously. Ano ba ‘yan."

"Wait, wait, wait," Latte sputtered, visibly thrown off by how anticlimactic the delivery was. "What do you mean, *obviously*?!"

"We've lived in the same apartment for four years," Net explained, his tone completely earnest, genuine bewilderment in his dark eyes. "We share a car. He has my bank card for grocery runs. I thought everyone knew."

"You fight on every show!" Nat shouted from the front row, throwing his hands in the air. "You threw him in the pool on Day Two!"

"He stepped on my float first," JJ pointed out reasonably, his voice dry and steady. "And he's annoying. Living with someone doesn't make them less annoying."

"See?" Net smiled, leaning his head down to bump his temple affectionately against JJ’s cheek. "Sheer domestic poetry. We're very happy."

"Get off me," JJ muttered, though he tilted his head into the touch, a quiet, genuine smile finally breaking across his lips in full view of three high-definition broadcast lenses. "You're heavy."

"Never," Net murmured softly.

**@scriptwriters_union:** “Now that the dust has settled, look at this clip from 2021 again. [Video attached] Net was fixing JJ’s mic pack behind the set. Look at his thumb rubbing JJ’s hip. We thought it was teasing. It was love all along. Every single poke. Every stolen pen. Every shove into the pool. Five years of evidence, hidden right under our noses.”

↳ **@phornpinit_files:** “The greatest love story in DMD history wasn't a scripted series. It was a five-year documentary disguised as mutual annoyance.”
