After Izzie survives Cancer, Alex and her struggle with intimacy and survival guilt. Izzie and Sloan form a friendship, after Izzie having made mistakes that almost cost someone its life, Sloan takes her under wing. Izzie does well, Sloan appoints himself her mentor, they bond over home made lunches recipes and surgeries. Izzie has an unplanned pregnancy but it’s too soon after chemo, is in denial over being pregnant, doesn’t want to tell Alex until they do a genetic test to see if the baby is viable.
