Smelly gumball

The Weight of the Watterson

The clock on Gumball’s bedside table, a plastic alarm clock shaped like a slice of pizza, ticked with a rhythmic, mechanical click that seemed to echo in the silence of the room. It was three in the morning, the hour where Elmore usually descended into its strangest fever dreams, but for Venus, reality was far more intense than any dream. He was currently buried alive beneath the sheer, sweaty bulk of a sleeping blue cat.

Gumball’s weight was surprisingly dense. Though he looked like a skinny teenager during the day, in the deep of night, his body seemed to double in gravity. Venus felt the air being squeezed out of his lungs, but every time he tried to inhale, his nostrils were filled with the suffocating, musky aroma of Gumball’s backside. It was a sensory overload—a cocktail of stale sweat, the lingering scent of the sewers they had traversed earlier, and the sharp, organic tang of a boy who hadn't seen a bathtub in forty-eight hours.

"Mmm... Darwin... stop eating the... the remote..." Gumball groaned, his voice muffled by the pillow. He shifted again, but rather than releasing Venus, he simply ground his rear deeper into the boy’s face, effectively sealing Venus’s mouth and nose against his skin.

Venus’s heart hammered against his ribs. The heat trapped between his face and Gumball’s skin was sweltering. He could feel the dampness of Gumball’s sweat soaking into his own cheeks. It was intoxicating in a way that defied logic. The sheer pungency of the cat’s "stinky" essence was like a drug, making Venus’s head swim. He found himself instinctively opening his mouth, his tongue darting out to taste the salty, pungent skin he was pressed against. There was no escape, so he leaned into the labor, his tongue working rhythmically against the center of the cat's anatomy.

Every few minutes, Gumball’s stomach would let out a violent, gurgling protest. The sound was like a distant thunderstorm, vibrating through his flesh and directly into Venus’s skull. Then came the warmth. Another cloud of gas, thick and sulfurous, escaped directly into Venus’s face. Because he was pinned so tightly, the gas had nowhere to go; it swirled around his nose, forcing him to breathe in the concentrated fumes of Gumball’s poor dietary choices. It was a mix of expired milk, cheap taco seasoning, and something that smelled suspiciously like a wet gym bag.

Venus’s eyes watered, but he didn't pull away—he couldn't. He was a prisoner of the Watterson funk. He began to kiss the skin again, his lips moving against the sweaty surface as he tried to soothe the very source of the odor. He felt like a deep-sea diver, submerged in an ocean of musk, where the only oxygen available was the scent of the boy above him.

Outside, the wind whistled through the eaves of the house, and a stray cat yowled in the distance, but inside the room, the only sounds were Gumball’s heavy, wet snores and the wet, slurping sounds of Venus’s dedicated service. Venus’s small hands were pinned at his sides, his fingers twitching against the mattress. He tried to nudge Gumball, hoping to create just an inch of breathing room, but Gumball only responded by mumbling something about "extra cheese" and settling even more firmly into the mattress.

As the hours bled into one another, the room grew colder, but the micro-climate beneath Gumball’s rear remained a sweltering tropical zone. Venus felt a strange sense of duty wash over him. He had been hired for this. Gumball had been very specific: "Venus, buddy, my hygiene is a disaster and I’m too lazy to fix it. You’re small, you’re quiet, and you’ve got a nose for detail. Just... keep me clean while I’m out for the count, okay?"

Venus took that mandate to heart. Even as his jaw began to ache and his nose felt raw from the constant friction against the cat’s fur and skin, he didn't stop. He focused on the "shit crumbs" Gumball’s subpar wiping habits had left behind, using his tongue with the precision of a surgeon to ensure that by the time the sun rose, Gumball would be the cleanest cat in Elmore, at least in the places that mattered most.

"That's it... get the... the golden spatula..." Gumball whispered, his leg twitching.

The twitch sent a fresh jolt of movement through his body, and for a brief second, the pressure eased. Venus took a desperate, gasping breath, but the air in the room felt thin and flavorless compared to the rich, heavy atmosphere he had been submerged in. Before he could fully recover, Gumball rolled back, the "thump" of his body hitting the mattress echoing in the quiet room. Venus was once again submerged.

The scent was even more "intoxicating" now. The heat had allowed the odors to bloom, turning the small space under Gumball into a concentrated chamber of feline musk. Venus found himself falling into a trance. The rhythm of Gumball’s breathing, the warmth of his skin, and the overwhelming, stinky aroma became his entire world. He stopped fighting the weight and started to embrace it, his tongue moving in slow, sweeping licks that covered every inch of the exposed skin.

He moved his head slightly, his nose brushing against the waistband of Gumball’s discarded briefs which were now bunched up near his lower back. The smell of the fabric was a concentrated history of Gumball’s day—the sweat of the dodgeball court, the grime of the school hallways, and the unmistakable scent of a teen boy’s hormones. Venus inhaled deeply, his lungs burning with the potency of it. He pressed
