The Domestic Life Of Shinsou And Kaminari.
The Friction of a Voltage
The Thai food had been a mistake, or at least the "extra spicy" level Denki had insisted upon was. By the time they reached the sanctuary of their apartment, Denki was panting, his tongue practically hanging out as he lunged for the refrigerator. Hitoshi watched from the doorway, leaning against the frame with a rare, relaxed posture, his capture scarf already draped over the back of a chair.
"I told you," Hitoshi said, his voice a low, melodic hum. "You have the spice tolerance of a glass of milk."
"It’s—it’s a tactical injury!" Denki gasped, chugging cold water straight from the pitcher, a few droplets sliding down his chin and wetting the collar of his hero suit. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, his eyes watering but his grin still stubbornly present. "I conquered those noodles, 'Toshi. I’m a victor. A sweaty, burning victor."
Hitoshi moved into the kitchen, his footsteps silent. He reached out, his thumb catching a stray drop of water on Denki's lip. The contact was brief, but it sent a visible shiver through the blonde. The air in the kitchen, already warm from the humid evening, suddenly felt thick with something other than the scent of chili oil and ginger.
"You're a mess," Hitoshi murmured. He didn't pull his hand away. Instead, his fingers slid back, cupping the side of Denki's neck where the skin was flushed and pulsing.
Denki leaned into the touch, his eyes fluttering shut. The bravado and the jokes began to melt away, replaced by that raw, honest vulnerability that only Hitoshi ever got to see. "Yeah, well. I’m your mess. You signed the contract."
"I don't remember seeing a signature line for 'spicy noodle disaster,' but I suppose I'll let it slide." Hitoshi stepped closer, closing the distance until their chests brushed. The contrast was striking: Hitoshi in his dark, tactical gear, looking like a shadow given form, and Denki, vibrating with residual electricity and the lingering heat of the day.
Denki’s hands came up to rest on Hitoshi’s waist, his fingers digging into the sturdy fabric of the tactical vest. "You’re still wearing all this gear. It’s too much. Too many layers between us."
"Then do something about it," Hitoshi challenged, his voice dropping to a gravelly whisper.
Denki didn't need to be told twice. He began working at the buckles and straps of Hitoshi’s gear with a frantic, clumsy energy that made Hitoshi chuckle. It was a familiar ritual, but the urgency tonight felt different. Maybe it was the adrenaline from the patrol, or the quiet intimacy of the rooftop, but there was a hunger in the way they moved toward the bedroom, shedding pieces of their professional identities like discarded skin.
By the time they hit the mattress, the lights were off, the room illuminated only by the pale glow of the city through the blackout curtains and the faint, rhythmic sparks dancing across Denki’s skin.
Hitoshi pinned Denki’s wrists above his head, his weight pressing the smaller man into the sheets. He looked down at him, his violet eyes dark and focused. "You're glowing again," he noted, his voice a soft vibration against Denki's ear.
"Can't help it," Denki breathed, his chest heaving. "You make me... you make me lose control of the output. It’s like I’m a live wire and you’re the only thing that doesn't burn out when I touch you."
Hitoshi leaned down, his lips trailing over the lightning-bolt streak in Denki’s hair before moving to the sensitive skin behind his ear. "I like the sparks. They remind me that you're real."
As Hitoshi’s hands explored the familiar curves and planes of Denki’s body, the blonde let out a series of broken, high-pitched sounds. Every touch from Hitoshi was deliberate, a slow-burn torture that drove Denki to the brink. When Hitoshi finally entered him, the friction was accompanied by a literal jolt of electricity that made Hitoshi’s muscles lock for a split second.
"Hitoshi—" Denki cried out, his back arching off the bed. His eyes were blown wide, gold irises glowing with a frantic light. "I’m gonna—I can't—"
"Stay with me," Hitoshi commanded, his voice thick with his own Need. He moved with a steady, punishing rhythm, his eyes never leaving Denki’s. He wanted to see every flicker of pleasure, every spark of light. He wanted to be the only thing in Denki’s world.
The static in the air grew so thick it made the hair on Hitoshi’s arms stand up. The scent of ozone filled the room, sharp and metallic. Denki’s hands scrambled for purchase, his fingers digging into Hitoshi’s shoulders, his nails leaving faint red crescents in the pale skin.
"Look at me," Hitoshi grunted, his pace quickening.
Denki looked. In the darkness, Hitoshi’s face was a mask of intense concentration and adoration. It was a look that said *I see you. All of you. And I’m not going anywhere.*
The climax hit them like a physical blow. Denki’s body shuddered as a bright, blinding flash of yellow light filled the room, a discharge of energy that left the air smelling of toasted sugar and electricity. Hitoshi collapsed against him, his heart hammering against his ribs, his breath coming in ragged gasps.
For several minutes, the only sound in the room was their synchronized breathing. The glow slowly faded from Denki’s skin, leaving him pale and limp in the afterglow.
"Did I... did I blow the lightbulbs?" Denki whispered into the crook of Hitoshi’s neck, his voice trembling with exhaustion.
Hitoshi let out a soft, tired laugh. He shifted his weight, rolling them over so they were side-by-side, tangled in the ruins of their sheets. "I think the bulbs survived. The toaster, however, might be a lost cause."
"Worth it," Denki murmured, his eyes already drifting shut. He curled into Hitoshi’s side, his head finding its usual spot on Hitoshi’s chest. "Hey, 'Toshi?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you. Even when you’re a sarcastic jerk who makes fun of my spice tolerance."
Hitoshi reached down, pulling the duvet over them both, tucking it around Denki’s shoulders with a tenderness that would have shocked anyone who only knew him as the cold, calculating Mind Jack. He kissed the top of Denki's head, his heart feeling fuller than it had any right to be.
"I love you too, Denki. Even when you're a human hazard."
The apartment settled into a deep, peaceful silence. Outside, the city of Musutafu continued its restless hum, heroes and villains playing their eternal game of cat and mouse. But inside their small, darkened sanctuary, two men slept in the quiet afterglow of a storm, grounded by each other, safe in the knowledge that they were finally, truly home.
