The sweaty sauna

The Transmutation of Sweat and Soul

The air in the sauna had long since ceased to be something we simply breathed; it had become a heavy, liquid weight that bound the three of us together. The cedar walls seemed to pulse in time with the thrumming of my own blood. Every inch of my skin was slick, reflecting the dim, amber glow of the recessed lighting. Betsy—my wife, my lethal, beautiful Psylocke—was a vision of violet and bronze as she shifted her weight atop me.

She was the primary heat source now, her body radiating a feverish intensity that made the 120-degree room feel like a secondary concern. Her purple hair, dark and heavy with moisture, clung to her collarbones and the tops of her breasts. She looked down at me with an expression that was both predatory and profoundly tender, her dark eyes shimmering with a hint of the psychic power she was currently forced to keep bottled up.

"You're burning up," Betsy whispered, her voice a low vibration that I felt more in my chest than heard in my ears. She leaned down, her lips brushing against the sensitive skin of my neck. "But I can't tell if it's the room or if it's me."

"It's definitely you," I managed to say, my hands sliding up from her waist to the smooth, damp expanse of her back. The friction of skin on skin was electric, a sharp contrast to the dull, oppressive heat of the air.

Behind her, Illyana was a silent, golden shadow. The Russian sorceress moved with a terrifyingly beautiful economy of motion. She had been watching us, her icy blue eyes tracking every movement, every breath. Now, she leaned forward, her blonde hair falling over Betsy’s shoulder like a silken veil.

"The heat is a catalyst," Illyana murmured, her accent thick and rolling. "In Limbo, the fires burn the soul away until only the essence remains. Here... I think the fire is bringing your essence to the surface. Both of you."

Illyana’s hands, surprisingly cool despite the environment, reached around Betsy to find my shoulders. She pressed down firmly, her strength a reminder of the warrior she was. With a knowing smirk directed at Betsy, she began to shift her position.

"He is distracted by you, Betsy," Illyana teased, her eyes flicking to mine. "His heart is racing so fast I can see it jumping in his throat. We should give him more to think about than just the temperature."

Betsy let out a soft, melodic laugh and sat upright on my lap, her hands resting on my chest. "I think you're right, 'Yana. He’s always been such a multitasker. Let’s see how well he handles the two of us."

Betsy reached back, grabbing Illyana’s hand and pulling her forward. There was a silent communication between them—a sisterhood forged in the X-Men’s battles and sharpened by years of friendship. It was a wordless agreement, a shared desire to turn this sweltering prison into a playground.

"Lie back," Betsy commanded softly, her purple-painted nails grazing my chin.

I obeyed, leaning back against the upper wooden tier. The cedar was hot against my shoulder blades, but the sensation was quickly eclipsed as Betsy shifted. She didn't move away; instead, she moved higher, her knees pinning my arms gently to my sides as she prepared to take more of me.

But it was Illyana who made the next move. With the grace of a gymnast, the blonde Russian moved to the space above my head. She looked down at me, her face framed by her damp blonde bangs, her expression one of regal mischief.

"Do not forget to breathe, comrade," Illyana whispered.

Then, she lowered herself.

The sensation was overwhelming. As Illyana sat back, her cool, firm skin meeting my face, the world narrowed down to the scent of ozone, cedar, and the intoxicating musk of the two most dangerous women I knew. I was submerged in her, the heat of her body a different, more focused brand of fire than the air around us. My hands, freed as Betsy moved, found purchase on Illyana’s toned thighs, the muscles there like corded steel under velvet.

Above me, I heard Betsy gasp. She had found her own rhythm now, her body descending to claim me. I felt the incredible, sliding friction as she settled down, her movements slow and deliberate. She threw her head back, her purple ponytail whipping against my knees, her throat bared to the ceiling.

"Oh... god," Betsy moaned, her voice echoing off the wooden walls. "Yes... just like that."

The rhythm was a chaotic, beautiful symphony. I was caught between them—literally and figuratively. Below, Betsy was a rhythmic, pulsing force of nature, her hips moving with a martial precision that left me breathless. Above, Illyana was a steady, grounding weight, her presence demanding my total attention.

I couldn't speak; I could barely think. Every sense was dialed to the maximum. The taste of salt on my tongue, the sight of Betsy’s arched back and the way her muscles rippled under her olive skin, the feeling of Illyana’s hands reaching down to grip my own as she braced herself.

The dampening field might have cut off their mutant powers, but it couldn't touch the raw, primal energy radiating from them. Betsy’s telepathy was dormant, yet I felt her every thought, every surge of pleasure, through the way her fingers dug into my knees. She was a master of control, but here, in the sweltering dark of the sauna, she was letting go.

"Look at me," Betsy gasped, her eyes snapping open. They were dark, blown wide with heat and arousal. She leaned forward, her breasts brushing against my chest as she reached up to run her fingers through Illyana’s hair.

The two women locked eyes over me. It was a moment of profound intimacy, a bridge built between two people who had seen the worst the multiverse had to offer and had found a moment of pure, unadulterated heat in the middle of it.

"He belongs to us today, doesn't he?" Illyana’s voice was muffled but clear, a vibration that hummed through my skull.

"He does," Betsy agreed, her voice dropping to a growl. She looked back down at me, a fierce, possessive love shining through the exhaustion. "And we aren't going to let a little thing like a locked door stop us."

Betsy picked up the pace, her movements becoming more frantic, more desperate. The heat was finally starting to take its toll, making every movement feel like it was happening underwater. Sweat was pouring off us now, pooling on the wooden benches, making the contact between our bodies even more fluid, even more intense.

I felt the build-up starting—a pressure in my chest that had nothing to do with the thin oxygen. It was a rising tide, driven by the dual assault on my senses. Betsy seemed to sense it, her own movements reaching a crescendo. She gripped my shoulders so hard I knew there would be bruises, her teeth grazing her bottom lip as she fought to stay quiet.

Illyana, too, was reaching her limit. I felt the tension in her legs, the way her breath hitched against my skin. She was no longer the cool, detached sorceress; she was a woman caught in the same storm as the rest of us.

"Now," Betsy hissed, her voice a command to the universe itself. "Now, 'Yana!"

The explosion was more than just physical. It was a release of all the tension of the morning, all the stress of their lives as heroes, and all the concentrated heat of the room. Betsy collapsed forward against me, her heart hammering against mine like a trapped bird. Above us, Illyana let out a long, shuddering breath, her body trembling as she slowly leaned back, resting her head against the wall.

We stayed like that for a long time, a tangle of limbs and heavy breathing. The silence of the sauna returned, but it was no longer oppressive. It was heavy with the afterglow of what we had just shared.

Eventually, Illyana shifted, moving to sit beside us on the bench. She wiped a hand across her forehead, pushing her blonde hair back. She looked exhausted, but there was a serene, satisfied smile on her face.

"I think," Illyana said, her voice raspy, "that the demons of Limbo have nothing on a Braddock sauna session."

Betsy let out a weak laugh, her head still resting on my shoulder. She reached out, taking my hand and squeezing it. Her purple nails were a stark contrast to my skin. "I told you we should make the most of the environment."

I turned my head to kiss the top of Betsy’s damp head, then looked at Illyana. "Is it an hour yet?"

Illyana glanced at the thermometer, then at the heavy cedar door. "I do not care. They can take another two hours if they wish. I am quite comfortable."

Betsy sat up slowly, her eyes regaining their usual sharp clarity, though they were still softened by affection. She looked at the door, then back at the two of us. "Actually, I think I hear them at the lock. We should probably find our clothes."

"Or," I suggested, my voice returning to me, "we could stay exactly like this and see how long it takes them to get the courage to come in."

Betsy smirked, a wicked glint in her eyes as she leaned in for one more salt-tinged kiss. "Don't tempt me, darling. I might just tell them the lock is still stuck."

As the sound of heavy tools began to echo from the other side of the door, the three of us shared a look. The heat was still there, the room was still small, and we were still trapped. But for the first time since the door had jammed, none of us were in any hurry to leave.

The Braddock estate was a place of luxury and high-tech security, but in that moment, within the cedar walls of the sauna, we had found something far more primal and far more enduring. As the lock finally clicked and the heavy door creaked open, letting in a rush of cool, glorious air, Betsy leaned into my ear.

"Next time," she whispered, "we’re locking the door on purpose."
