Velvet desire

The Crimson Ledger of Devotion

The morning sun did not dare to be too bright within the master suite of the Kim estate. Heavy velvet curtains, the color of dried blood, muffled the world outside, creating a cocoon where time was measured only by the rhythm of Jisoo’s breathing. Taehyung lay awake, his arm draped across her waist like a heavy iron bar. He had been watching her for an hour, his eyes tracing the delicate pulse in her neck. To anyone else, it was a sign of life; to him, it was a countdown, a reminder that every second she breathed was a second she belonged exclusively to him.

His phone vibrated on the nightstand—a low, buzzing intrusion. He didn't pick it up. He knew what it was. His second-in-command, Jimin, would be reporting that the "literature problem" had been dealt with. Mr. Choi wouldn't be teaching poetry anymore. In fact, he wouldn't be speaking at all. Taehyung felt no remorse, only a cold, clinical satisfaction. He had warned the man. In Taehyung’s world, mercy was a luxury he only afforded his wife.

Jisoo stirred, her eyelashes fluttering against her cheeks. She groaned softly, her body aching from the intensity of the previous night. As she opened her eyes, she was met with the obsidian depths of Taehyung’s gaze. He wasn't smiling. He never really smiled with his mouth; the joy he felt was a dark, simmering heat that radiated from his skin.

"Good morning, my angel," he whispered, his voice gravelly from sleep and possessiveness.

"Taehyung," she breathed, reaching up to touch his face. Her fingers traced the sharp, aristocratic line of his jaw. "How long have you been awake?"

"Since the sun dared to look at you," he replied, leaning down to press a lingering kiss to her forehead. "I don't like the way the light touches your skin when I’m not the one doing it."

Jisoo let out a soft, tired laugh, though there was a tremor in it. She was used to his hyper-fixation, but some mornings, the weight of his obsession felt like a physical pressure on her chest. "You can't be jealous of the sun, Tae."

"I can be jealous of anything that perceives you, Jisoo." He moved his hand upward, his palm cupping her breast through the thin silk of her nightgown. He felt the weight, the familiar fullness that signaled his morning ritual. "You're leaking."

Jisoo looked down, seeing the two small, damp circles blooming on the fabric. Her milk was a constant, a physical manifestation of her role as his provider, his nurturer, and his ultimate prize. "I need to get up, Taehyung. I have a first-period class, and—"

"No." The word was final, a gavel striking a desk. "You aren't going to that school today. Or tomorrow. Perhaps never again."

Jisoo’s heart skipped a beat. She pushed herself up on her elbows, the silk slipping down her shoulder. "What? Taehyung, we talked about this. My job is my only connection to the outside world. I love those children."

Taehyung’s expression darkened, the shadows in the room seeming to coalesce around him. He sat up, his bare, scarred torso a testament to the violence he navigated daily. He looked like a fallen god—beautiful, terrifying, and utterly broken.

"The outside world tried to touch what is mine," he said, his voice dropping to a dangerous register. "That man... his fingers were on your face. I can still see the ghost of his touch on your skin. It makes me want to skin him alive, Jisoo. It makes me want to burn that school to the ground so no other man can ever stand within ten feet of you."

"He was just being kind!" she cried, her voice rising in desperation. "You can't keep me locked in here like a prisoner."

In a flash, Taehyung was over her, his hands pinning her wrists to the pillows. He didn't hurt her, but his grip was inescapable. He hovered inches from her face, his breath hot against her lips.

"You aren't a prisoner," he hissed, his eyes wide and glassy with the mania that defined him. "You are the heart in my chest. If the heart leaves the body, the body dies. Do you want me to die, Jisoo? Do you want to see what happens to this city when I no longer have you to come home to? I will turn Seoul into a graveyard."

Jisoo stared up at him, her eyes filling with tears. She saw the truth in his words. He wasn't exaggerating. He was a man who functioned on the edge of a psychological precipice, and she was the only thing keeping him from falling. Her innocence was his anchor; her milk was his medicine.

"I don't want you to die," she whispered, her voice trembling.

"Then stay. Stay here where I can guard you. Where I can see you every hour. I’ll build you a school here. I’ll buy a dozen orphans and let you teach them in the garden. But you are never going back to that place."

He let go of her wrists, his anger vanishing as quickly as it had arrived, replaced by that bottomless, starving need. He crawled down her body, his head resting on her stomach, his face buried in the silk of her gown.

"I need you," he whimpered. It was the sound that always broke her—the sound of the monster pleading for his life. "I’m burning up again, Jisoo. The images won't stop. I see him touching you. I see a thousand men looking at you. Please. Quiet the noise."

Jisoo sighed, her hand finding its way into his dark, silken hair. She knew she had lost. She always lost when he became like this. She reached for the hem of her gown and pulled it up, baring her breasts to the dim light of the room.

"Come here," she murmured.

Taehyung didn't need to be told twice. He latched onto her with a desperate, guttural groan. He drank as if he had been wandering a desert for years, his hands kneading her soft flesh with a possessive intensity that left faint red marks. This was his communion. In the sweet, warm flow of her milk, he found the only peace he had ever known. The screams of the men he had tortured, the weight of the empire he ruled, the blood on his soul—it all faded away, replaced by the taste of her.

He switched sides, his movements becoming slower, more rhythmic. He was calming down, the tension leaving his muscular frame. Jisoo leaned her head back against the headboard, watching the ceiling. She was his queen, yes, but she was also his life support.

When he finally finished, he didn't pull away completely. He rested his forehead against her wet skin, his eyes closed. "I’m going to have a nursery built on this floor," he stated, his voice muffled. "For the baby, and for us. I want you close. Always."

"Taehyung, the baby needs to see the sun too," Jisoo said softly, trying one last time to find a middle ground.

"The sun is dangerous," he countered, looking up at her with a chillingly calm expression. "The world is full of people who want to hurt me, and the easiest way to hurt me is to take what I love. I’m protecting you, Jisoo. One day, you’ll understand that my obsession is the only thing keeping you alive."

He stood up and walked toward the bathroom, his stride confident and predatory. "Clean yourself up. We’re having breakfast on the terrace. I’ve had the entire perimeter lined with new glass. No one can see in, but you can see the city you rule."

Jisoo stayed in bed for a moment, the cooling milk on her skin a reminder of her reality. She got up and followed him, knowing that the golden cage was finally closing its door.

The bathroom was a cathedral of black marble and gold fixtures. Taehyung was already in the oversized shower, the steam rising in thick clouds. He reached out a hand, his eyes demanding. Jisoo stepped into the heat, the water cascading over them both.

He turned her around, his hands slick with expensive soap as he began to wash her body. He did it with a meticulousness that was both erotic and terrifying. He scrubbed her face, her neck, her shoulders—everywhere that teacher might have even glanced. He was washing the world off her, reclaiming every inch of her skin as his own territory.

"You're so beautiful," he whispered, his hands sliding down to her hips. "I want to carve my name into your bones so that even in the afterlife, they know who you belong to."

He pulled her back against him, his hardness pressing against the small of her back. His teeth grazed her shoulder, biting down just hard enough to leave a mark. A brand.

"Taehyung..." she gasped, her hands gripping the marble tiles.

"Does it hurt?" he asked, his voice a dark caress.

"A little."

"Good. Remember the pain. Remember that it comes from me. No one else is allowed to make you feel anything, Jisoo. Not joy, not pain, not even a breeze on your face. Only me."

He spun her around and lifted her, her legs locking around his waist. The friction of their wet skin, the heat of the water, and the raw, unfiltered power in his eyes pushed Jisoo over the edge. She kissed him fiercely, her tongue clashing with his, tasting the faint sweetness of her own milk that still lingered on his breath.

He hit the wall of the shower with her, his thrusts deep and unrelenting. He didn't move with the grace of a lover; he moved with the desperation of a man trying to merge two souls into one. He wanted to be inside her, around her, part of her very DNA.

"Tell me," he growled, his face buried in her neck. "Tell me you'll never leave."

"I'll never leave," she cried out, her climax beginning to roll through her in waves. "I'm yours, Taehyung! I'm yours!"

He roared as he followed her, his body shuddering with a violent release that left him gasping for air. He held her there for a long time, the water turning lukewarm, neither of them moving.

An hour later, they sat on the terrace. The view of Seoul was breathtaking, a sprawling metropolis of glass and steel. To anyone else, it was a city. To Taehyung, it was a chessboard.

He sat in a throne-like chair, dressed in a silk robe, sipping espresso. Jisoo sat across from him, dressed in a high-necked lace dress he had chosen for her. It covered every mark he had left, every trace of his hunger.

A guard approached, bowing low. "Sir, the package has been delivered to the literature teacher's family as requested."

Jisoo froze, her fork hovering over a piece of fruit. "Package? Taehyung, what package?"

Taehyung didn't look up from his coffee. "Just a gift, darling. To ensure he remembers the lesson I taught him yesterday."

"What did you do?" she whispered, her face paling.

Taehyung finally looked at her, his eyes cold and flat. "I protected my property, Jisoo. That’s all you need to know."

He reached across the table, taking her hand and kissing the knuckles. His touch was gentle, but his eyes were a warning. The man who had touched her cheek was gone, erased from the world as if he had never existed.

"Eat," Taehyung commanded softly. "You need to keep your strength up. I’ll be hungry again in an hour."

Jisoo looked out at the city, the beautiful, glittering city that was her husband’s kingdom. She realized then that the walls of the penthouse weren't there to keep the world out. They were there to keep her in, a precious bird in a cage of silk and blood. And as Taehyung’s thumb stroked the back of her hand, she knew she would never fly again. She was the King’s obsession, and in his world, there was no such thing as freedom—only the sweet, suffocating embrace of a love that was indistinguishable from madness.

"I love you, Taehyung," she said, the words a surrender.

He smiled then, a genuine, terrifying flash of white teeth. "I know you do, babygirl. You have no choice. You’re the only thing that keeps the monster fed."

He stood up, pulling her out of her chair and into his lap. He didn't care about the guards, the city, or the blood on his hands. He only cared about the woman in his arms and the milk that sustained his soul. As he buried his face in her chest, the King of the underworld finally found his peace, wrapped in the scent of vanilla and the terrifying, beautiful certainty of absolute possession.
