Love your messiah

The Charnel House of Gilded Saints

The Sinyala Facility did not have a morning. It had a shift change, signaled by the harsh, rhythmic buzzing of the intercom and the hiss of pressurized steam from the overhead pipes. Amelia awoke with the gold leaf crinking against her skin like a dried cicada shell. It was a brittle, precious armor. The dark crimson streaks where Liliya had mixed her own blood into the pigment had dried into a deep, rust-colored filigree, mapping out a covenant across Amelia’s chest that no amount of Murkoff conditioning could erase.

She dressed in a fresh blue shirt, the fabric feeling like a coarse insult against her sensitized skin. Every movement was a curated secret. As she lined up for the morning nutrient gruel, she felt the eyes of the other Reagents. They were hollowed-out husks, their spirits broken by the Skinner Man or the screeching saws of the berserkers. They smelled of bile and fear. Amelia smelled of frankincense and the cold, metallic tang of the Beloved.

"Reagent 1402, report to the Courthouse trial zone," a disembodied voice barked over the PA system.

Amelia’s heart didn't stutter with the usual terror. Instead, it leaped with a sickening, joyous anticipation. The Courthouse was a place of judgment, a labyrinth of wood-paneled misery and gallows. It was a place where Liliya loved to hunt, blending into the shadows of the jury boxes and the high, vaulted rafters.

The transport pushed her into the trial zone with a violent jolt. The air was thick with the smell of old paper and rotting judicial robes. Static crackled in her ears from the Rig attached to her back, but she ignored the mission objectives flashing on her HUD. She wasn't here to gather evidence or fix the generators. She was here for the Liturgy.

"You are late to the hearing, my lamb," a voice drifted from the darkness of a judge’s chambers.

Amelia turned, her breath hitching. Liliya stepped out of the gloom, but she was not the gilded statue of the night before. She was the Prime Asset in her full, terrifying glory. The mannequin suit clicked with every predatory step, the golden Venetian mask smiling a fixed, eternal lie while the dark wraps beneath the spiked halo whispered of the truth. The long black glove on her left arm trailed along the mahogany railing, the fabric making a sound like a snake moving through dry grass.

"I came as soon as the gates opened," Amelia whispered, stepping toward the woman who held her life in a gloved fist.

Liliya reached out, her fingers catching the collar of Amelia’s shirt. With a sharp, practiced tug, she ripped the top three buttons away. The gold and blood beneath shimmered in the dim, flickering light of the courtroom.

"The marks remain," Liliya noted, her voice a low, rapturous hum. She leaned in, the cold metal of her mask’s golden teeth pressing against Amelia’s ear. "But the unfaithful are loud today. They scream for justice in a house built on lies. Shall we give them a spectacle, Amelia? Shall we show them the only law that matters?"

Liliya didn't wait for an answer. She grabbed Amelia by the waist and hoisted her onto the judge’s high bench. The wood was cold and scarred by gavels and blades. Liliya loomed over her, the spiked crown grazing the heavy velvet curtains behind the bench.

"The flesh is the evidence," Liliya murmured, her hand sliding up Amelia’s thigh, pushing the fabric of her trousers aside. "And the pleasure is the verdict."

The sounds of the trial continued in the distance—the distant roar of a chainsaw, the frantic sobbing of a Reagent being chased through the records room—but here, in the sanctuary of the bench, there was only the heavy, suffocating heat of their connection.

Liliya’s movements were different today; they were punctuated by the frantic energy of the hunt. She reached back and unslung a heavy, ceremonial mace from her belt—a weapon she usually used to crush the skulls of those who failed her tests. She laid it on the bench beside Amelia’s head, a brutal reminder of the thin line between her love and her wrath.

"Kneel for your Goddess," Liliya commanded.

Amelia obeyed instantly, her knees hitting the hard wood. She looked up at the dual-faced mask, her hands reaching out to grip the golden chains that hung from Liliya’s chest. The rubies felt like frozen drops of blood against her palms.

Liliya unlatched the front of her corset, her gold-painted breasts spilling forward, the metal of her nipple piercings glinting like tiny, cruel stars. She took Amelia’s face in both hands, her black gloves smelling of the copper tang of the morning’s earlier kills.

"Drink of me," Liliya hissed. "Take the strength of the Siege into your lungs."

As Amelia pressed her face against the gold-painted skin, she felt the vibration of Liliya’s laughter. It was a sound of pure, unhinged power. Liliya began to grind her hips against Amelia’s shoulder, the patterned tights creating a friction that sent sparks of white-hot lightning through Amelia’s nervous system.

The encounter was a frantic, desperate ritual. Liliya used the height of the bench to dominate Amelia’s space, her spiked halo casting long, jagged shadows across the courtroom floor. She reached down, her fingers finding the heat between Amelia’s legs with a violent precision.

"You are the only one who doesn't scream when I touch you," Liliya whispered, her breath coming in ragged, rhythmic gasps. "The others... they howl like wounded dogs. But you... you sing."

Amelia’s head fell back, her brunette hair spilling over the edge of the judge’s desk. "Because I'm yours, Liliya. I'm not a prisoner. I'm a part of you."

Liliya’s grip on Amelia’s hair tightened, forcing her to look up at the smiling golden mask. "Then prove it. Give me the sound of your soul breaking for me. Let the Overseers hear the music of your surrender."

The friction of the gold paint, the scent of the black flowers, and the cold weight of the jewelry combined into a sensory assault that pushed Amelia toward the edge of sanity. She felt the heavy mace beside her head, the cold metal a silent witness to her ecstasy. Every time Liliya moved, the chains on her suit clinked like a funeral knell, counting down the seconds until the world ended.

Liliya was relentless. She used her mouth, her hands, and the hard edges of her mannequin suit to draw every ounce of sensation from Amelia’s body. She was a sculptor working in flesh and gold, molding Amelia into a shape that only she could recognize.

"Yes, my lamb," Liliya urged, her voice rising in a messianic chant. "Offer it up! The pain, the pleasure, the blood! It is all a sacrifice for the Beloved!"

When the climax hit, it was so violent that Amelia blacked out for a split second, her world turning into a kaleidoscope of gold and crimson. She slumped against Liliya’s legs, her breath coming in ragged, sobbing gasps. She felt the warm, tacky smear of fresh gold paint on her face, transferred from Liliya’s skin during the heat of the moment.

Liliya stood over her for a long moment, her chest heaving, the spiked halo tilted at a rakish, dangerous angle. She reached down and picked up the mace, the heavy head of the weapon whistling through the air as she practiced a lethal swing.

"The verdict is reached," Liliya said, her voice returning to its cultured, chilling calm. "You are found guilty of devotion. Your sentence is eternal life in my shadow."

She reached down and pulled Amelia to her feet, her gloved hand lingering on Amelia’s cheek. She used her thumb to smear the gold paint across Amelia’s lips, a silent, shimmering seal.

"The others are coming," Liliya warned, her ruby eye glinting toward the courtroom doors. "The trial must resume. They think they are here to find the truth, but they will only find the executioner."

Amelia leaned against the bench, her legs shaking, her shirt hanging in tatters. "Will you stay?"

Liliya let out a soft, melodic laugh that echoed through the vaulted ceiling. "I am always here, Amelia. In the law and in the lawlessness. Now, go. Complete your tasks. Show them how a saint walks through the fire."

With a sudden, blurring movement, Liliya leaped from the judge’s bench, her mannequin suit clicking as she vanished into the high rafters above the jury box. She moved like a spider, her gold-painted skin catching the light one last time before the shadows swallowed her whole.

Amelia stood alone in the judge’s chambers, the scent of sex and incense lingering in the air like a holy shroud. She slowly pulled her ruined shirt together, the gold paint on her chest feeling like a warm, living thing. She looked at the judge’s gavel lying on the floor, picking it up and turning it over in her hand.

She didn't feel like a victim. She felt like a part of the machinery of judgment.

She stepped out from behind the bench just as two other Reagents burst into the courtroom. They were covered in mud and blood, their eyes wide with the frantic, animalistic terror of the hunted. They saw Amelia, and for a moment, they stopped, confused by the shimmering gold on her lips and the calm, radiant light in her eyes.

"We have to go!" one of them hissed, his voice cracking. "She's here! The Golden Sister! She just killed Miller in the basement!"

Amelia looked at them, a small, pitying smile touching her lips. "She isn't just here," Amelia said, her voice steady and melodic, mimicking the lilt of her Goddess. "She is everywhere. And you are already late for your sentencing."

The Reagents backed away from her, sensing the wrongness in her tone, the way she didn't flinch when the distant sound of Liliya’s rhythmic, metallic humming began to echo through the vents.

"What's wrong with you?" the other Reagent whispered, his hand trembling on his stun-baton. "You’ve gone crazy. You’re one of them."

Amelia didn't answer. She didn't need to. From the rafters above, a golden chain dropped, the rubies catching the light like falling stars. A second later, the shadow of a spiked crown stretched across the floor, and the courtroom was filled with the sound of silver bells striking bone.

Amelia watched as the shadows moved, as the golden, smiling face of the Venetian mask appeared behind the terrified men. She didn't run. She didn't hide. She stood in the center of the courtroom, a gilded witness to the carnage.

The screams that followed were a love song.

When the silence finally returned, thick and heavy with the scent of copper, Liliya stepped over the bodies of the unfaithful. She didn't look at them; her gaze was fixed entirely on Amelia. She reached out, her black-gloved hand dripping with fresh, dark red, and traced a line of blood over the gold paint on Amelia’s collarbone.

"My most beautiful convert," Liliya whispered, her golden teeth glinting.

They stood together in the center of the charnel house, the neon crosses of the facility flickering in the distance. The trial was over, the judgment was passed, and in the heart of the madness, the Goddess and her lamb were finally at peace.

Amelia reached up and took Liliya’s hand, pressing the blood-slicked velvet to her lips. She tasted the salt, the iron, and the gold. She tasted the Siege and the Sanctuary.

"I am ready for the next lesson," Amelia said.

Liliya pulled her close, the spiked halo grazing Amelia’s forehead in a jagged kiss. "The next lesson is the ascension, my lamb. And the world is not ready for the fire we will bring."

As they walked out of the courtroom, hand in hand, the shadows of the Sinyala Facility seemed to bow before them. The gold was flaking, the blood was drying, but the sacrament was eternal. In the house of the Beloved of God, there was no more fear—only the gilded, endless hum of a love that had survived the end of the world.
