Velvet desire
The Ivory Penance of a God
The morning after the Council’s bloodbath was unnervingly quiet. The Kim estate breathed with a heavy, artificial stillness, the kind that preceded a funeral or a coronation. Taehyung had not left the bed. He lay tangled in the silk sheets, his large, scarred body acting as a living shroud for Jisoo. He hadn't slept; he had merely watched her, his eyes tracking the pulse in her throat, his hand resting possessively over her heart as if he were counting every beat she owed him.
Jisoo woke to the sensation of cold metal against her skin. Taehyung was tracing the line of her gold anklet with the tip of a silver dagger, the blade gleaming in the thin morning light. She didn't flinch. She had long since passed the point of fear; now, there was only a weary, profound intimacy with the monster who called her his wife.
"Do you know why I chose gold, Jisoo?" he whispered, his voice like gravel grinding against velvet. He didn't look up from her ankle. "Because it’s soft. It’s malleable. It takes the shape of whatever exerts the most pressure on it. Just like you."
He set the dagger on the nightstand and crawled up her body, his weight a familiar, crushing comfort. He looked haggard, the dark circles under his eyes contrasting sharply with the terrifying glow of his obsession. He looked like a man who had spent the night walking through fire and had only just realized he was still burning.
"I can smell them on me," he muttered, burying his face in the crook of her neck. "The men from last night. Their fear. Their rot. It’s sticking to my skin, Jisoo. I feel like I’m suffocating."
Jisoo reached up, her fingers threading through his dark, messy hair. She felt the dampness of her own skin, the tell-tale sign that her body was already responding to his distress. "Then let it go, Taehyung. You’re home. No one can reach you here."
"I don't want to let it go," he hissed, his teeth grazing her collarbone. "I want to drown it out. I want to be scrubbed clean by you. I want to forget that anyone else in this world has a voice."
He sat back, his eyes fixated on her chest. The silk of her nightgown was darkened with damp circles, the lace straining against the heavy, aching pressure of her milk. Since the violence of the previous night, her supply had become aggressive, a physical manifestation of her body’s desperate need to soothe the beast she was tethered to.
"You’re overflowing," he whispered, his voice trembling with a mixture of lust and reverence. "For me. All for me."
He didn't wait for her to move. He ripped the silk down, exposing her to the cool air. She let out a shaky breath, the relief of the tension breaking as he latched on. Taehyung groaned, a deep, guttural sound that vibrated through her entire frame. He drank with a primal, frantic intensity, his hands cupping her breasts as if they were the holiest relics in existence.
The rhythm was hypnotic. Gulp. Swallow. Gasp. Jisoo watched the ceiling, her fingers tightening in the bedsheets. She felt the pull deep in her core, the biological contract she had signed the day she said "I do" to the God of Death. Every drop he took seemed to drain a bit of the darkness from his expression, smoothing the jagged lines of his rage until he looked almost human again.
He switched sides, his tongue teasing the milk to the surface before he drew her back in. He was greedier than usual, his hands wandering down to her waist, his fingers digging into the soft flesh of her hips. He wanted to consume her, to take everything she had to give until there was nothing left of Kim Jisoo but what he allowed to exist.
"I’m going to build a wall," he murmured against her skin, his breath hot and damp. "Higher than the trees. I’m going to buy the land for ten miles in every direction. I’ll clear the forests so no one can even hide in the shadows near you. You’ll be the only thing living in the center of my world."
"Taehyung, you can't hide the whole world," she whispered, her voice thick with the lethargy of the nursing.
"I can," he growled, pulling back to look her in the eye. A stray drop of white ran down his chin, and he didn't bother to wipe it. "I’ve already started. The school is being demolished today. I bought the property. I’m turning it into a private park for you. No one else will ever walk where you walked. No other man will breathe the air you breathed there."
Jisoo felt a cold shiver go down her spine. "You destroyed the school? Taehyung, those children... the other teachers..."
"They’ve been relocated," he said dismissively, his hand sliding between her thighs. "They don't matter. Only you matter. I’m erasing your past, Jisoo. I’m making it so that your life began the moment I touched you. Everything before me was just a dream. Everything after me is the only reality."
He moved over her, his eyes darkening to a shade of black that swallowed the room. He didn't ask; he took. He entered her with a forceful, possessive thrust that made the gold anklet chime against the bedpost. Jisoo cried out, her hands clutching his shoulders, her nails drawing thin red lines down his back.
The sex was a battleground. Taehyung moved with a desperate, jagged rhythm, his body a weapon of pure obsession. He wasn't just seeking pleasure; he was seeking total dominion. He wanted to feel her break under him, wanted to hear her voice fail as she surrendered every last bit of her autonomy to his whim.
"Whose are you?" he demanded, his voice a roar in the quiet room.
"Yours," she gasped, her head thrashing against the pillows. "I’m yours, Taehyung. Please..."
"Say it again. Say you belong to the monster."
"I belong to you! I’m your wife... I’m your prisoner... I’m whatever you want me to be!"
He hit his peak with a violence that left them both breathless, his body seizing as he poured his soul into her. He stayed there, buried deep, his forehead pressed against hers. He was shaking, the adrenaline of the kill and the ecstasy of the act mixing into a toxic, beautiful cocktail.
"I love you so much it feels like I’m dying," he whispered, his voice cracking. "Every time I leave this house, I feel like my heart is being ripped out through my ribs. I can't breathe out there, Jisoo. The air is too thin without you."
He pulled back, looking at her with a terrifyingly fragile expression. He reached out, his thumb tracing the marks he had left on her neck. "I’m going to stay here today. I’m going to stay inside you. I’m going to feed from you until I’m so full of your light that the shadows can't find me."
He didn't let her get up. He spent the afternoon worshipping her in the most carnal, obsessive ways. He fed her fruit with his own hands, then licked the juice from her skin. He bathed her in the oversized marble tub, his hands roaming over her as if he were trying to memorize her through his pores. And every hour, like clockwork, he returned to her breasts, his hunger for her milk as insatiable as his hunger for her soul.
As the sun began to set, casting long, bloody shadows across the room, Taehyung sat on the balcony with Jisoo in his lap. He had wrapped her in a heavy fur throw, his arms locked around her waist. Below them, the guards moved like ghosts, their shadows lengthening across the manicured lawns.
"Look at them," Taehyung whispered, pointing to the perimeter. "They live and die by my word. They are the iron that protects the silk. And you, my love, are the silk."
He reached into the pocket of his robe and pulled out a small, velvet pouch. He poured the contents into his palm—a set of earrings, diamonds so large and clear they looked like frozen tears.
"I took these from the Council leader’s vault last night," he said, his voice cold. "He was saving them for his daughter’s wedding. I decided they looked better on my property."
He leaned forward, carefully piercing her ears with the diamonds. Jisoo winced at the tiny sting, but she didn't move. She felt the weight of the stones, adding to the weight of the anklet, adding to the weight of his love.
"Now you're wearing his fear," Taehyung smiled, a dark, predatory tilt of his lips. "Every time you look in the mirror, I want you to remember that I destroyed an empire just to give you a trinket. I would do it again tomorrow if you asked."
"I would never ask for that, Taehyung," she said softly.
"I know. That’s why I have to do it for you. You’re too good for this world, Jisoo. That’s why I have to keep you in mine."
He turned her around in his lap, his eyes fixated on her chest once more. The evening air was cool, making her nipples peak through the thin fabric of her chemise. He let out a low, needy hum, his hand reaching out to stroke her.
"I’m empty again," he murmured, his voice dropping into that dangerous, honeyed register. "The sun is going down. The demons are coming back. Feed me, Jisoo. Hide me from the dark."
Jisoo leaned back, exposing herself to the twilight. She felt the familiar pull, the ivory liquid of her devotion rising to meet his need. As Taehyung latched onto her, his eyes closing in a daze of pure addiction, she looked out over the vast, silent estate.
She was the Queen of a kingdom of one. She was the nurse to a god who dealt in blood. And as the diamonds in her ears caught the last rays of the sun, flashing like sirens in the dark, she realized that she was no longer just a woman. She was a living altar, a vessel of peace for a man who had declared war on the universe.
Taehyung drank until he was dazed, his head falling against her shoulder as he drifted into a shallow sleep. Jisoo held him, her fingers tracing the scars on his back, her eyes fixed on the horizon. She knew that tomorrow would be the same. He would kill, he would obsess, and he would return to her for his penance.
And she would be there. Locked in gold, draped in diamonds, and overflowing with the only thing that kept the God of Death from turning the world to ash.
"I am yours," she whispered into the wind, the words a vow and a sentence all at once.
In the silence of the night, the only response was the steady, rhythmic sound of the King breathing against her skin, and the distant, metallic click of the gates closing, sealing them both inside their beautiful, terrifying forever.
